Crossing Goat Hall Lane and entering Bekeswell Lane

Past the Horse & Groom pub

At the top of Bekeswell Road the sign says go straight on. However Galleywood Common is quite confusing and it is easy to get lost! One option is to turn left here and go to the Eagle Pub. At the Eagle you have the choice between the Ponds Avenue route and across the fields (muddy at present!) or down Watchouse Road, picking up Brook Lane after a kilometer or so.

The Eagle

Green dots show the normal route across the field from the Eagle as a start point; the red dots show and alternative route down Watchouse Land, Pipers Tye, Brook Lane to the end of The Chase where it joins the green route. This is much better if the fields are muddy

.

.

.

Brook Lane

New house being build opposite The Chase. The Chase is the road from which you come
out onto Brook Lane if you follow the Ponds Avenue route across the fields.

View across the fields as you turn into Vicarage Lane. The route goes across two fields
to Great Mascalls Farm

.

.

Great Mascalls Farm

Path goes between the farm buildings.

.

.

The route down to the roundabouts on the A12 is not so obvious; turn right at this point

.

.

Through a gap in the hedge on the left hand side into the next field

Straight across the field towards the 5-bar gate

Stile next to road sign

Although crossing the double roundabouts looks daunting, if you follow the black dots and
wait until the traffic lights are in your favour you can cross quite easily and safely.

Down to the traffic lights and cross over when they are in your favour.
